Last Saturday afternoon we attended the Sassy Mama Helper Awards to capture images of the event and presentations. We had an absolutely fabulous and inspiring afternoon!
We were so thrilled to be involved with such a great cause, and loved meeting all the families and amazing helpers. Some of the stories were completely overwhelming, and heart warming. We were delighted to see so many amazing women receive recognition for their hard work by the families whom they are employed by. There was a lovely buzz in the air during the award ceremony and most winners were brought to tears or speechless afterwards.
The Winners were chosen by a panel of judges including board members from local non-government organisations, AIDHA, AWARE, and HOME, along with the Sassy Mama editorial team. We were overjoyed when Domestic helper Erlinda Melchor was announced ‘Helper of the Year’. We had first met Erlinda during a photography session at her family’s (Mr & Mrs Cull’s) home back in May when their little boy was born. This story was also picked up by the Straits Times this week which was wonderful to see the wider Singapore Community stand up and reward and acknowledge the impact and support we all get in our daily lives from these outstanding women.
